This years fixtures began with Rigs returning to Minchinhampton, a venue from the societies earlier days. The welcome we received from both club and members was very warm, as was the weather. On the first tee we had a toast to John Hathaway and the official hand over of the Captains hat from Alan to Phil. Even though only 12 members were able to attend, the Hathaway cup was a close run competition with many scores catching the handicap secretary's eye!! The bowmaker team event ( not ball breaker Nobby ) was also a success. I have never seen so many men turn to jelly upon the production of a yellow ball ! After the golf there was a 3 course meal with our new after dinner speaker (Clarkie) keeping us all entertained with his wit and humour. The days competition proved to be a close run thing with the results having to be decided on count back.
