Wilton To Get Hairdryer Treatment

Summer signing Craig Wilton has outraged Phoenix boss Kev Osgood. The tough tackling midfielder who is currently recovering from a minor ankle operation, was due to meet up with his fellow players at a charity bash aimed to keep youngsters away from alcohol and drugs. Wilton missed the event because he was still suffering from pain in his ankle, and was barely able to walk according to a source close to him. The Phoenix gaffer later saw pictures published in a local tabloid of the midfielder boozing away until the early hours of the morning at a celebrity nightclub.
Osgood will be looking to make an example of the youngster and will hope that he will not follow the same road as disgraced footballers such as Joey Barton and Toby Berry.

New Season

FC Phoenix finished their final preparations today for the new season with a 6-1 win over Taulke Victoria Reserves. Manager Kev Osgood started with Tim Johnson in goal. Phil Winters, Ashley Picton, Andy Wells and Tommy Sales at the back. Jackie Kool, Will Berry, Craig Wilton, Dan Wells and Ritchie Winters in midfield. Stuart Evans started the game as a lone striker. The bench consisted of Alex Elliot, Dan Sales, Walt Gander, Shane Birch and Dan Humphrey.
Phoenix started the game very slowly and failed to impress in the first 20 minutes. A mix up between Tommy Sales and Tim Johnson then led to a Taulke player scoring. Craig Wilton and Stuart Evans were the first players swapped in the roll on roll off game. They were replaced by Dan Humphrey and Shane Birch. This meant that Phoenix went back to their traditional 4-4-2 tactics. This paid off straight away with a well taken goal from winger Ritchie Winters. Front two Dan Humphrey and Shane Birch then linked up well with Dan Humphrey providing the final ball for Shane Birch to score.
Will Berry minutes later cooly slotted the ball in the bottom corner of the net to put his side 3-1 up.
Half time was then called. Walt Gander made it known that the team was underperforming and needed to improve for the second half.
The wise words from Walt paid off in the second half. Phoenix were using every player and creating some good chances. The confidence was growing and Taulke found the ball hard to get. Some good passing and movement lead to Dan Wells making space and scoring for the second game running. Craig Wilton was the next player to benefit from the good play, he made a good run into the box and slotted the ball away. This was Craigs first goal for his new club. Shane Birch eventually got his second goal of the game to make it 6-1. Phoenix had some very good chances to score more. With Dan and Andy Wells both putting headers over the bar, Tommy Sales hitting the post and Dan Humphrey heading just wide. Credit must go to the Taulke keeper who made some very good saves and kept the scoreline respectful.
Phoenix have now finished their pre-seaon friendlies, picking up 2 wins against Galaxy and Taulke, and losing against GSK.
Kev Osgood now must look towards the first game of the season against Henfield next sunday.
Phoenix will have a full squad available for the game at the Hillbarn stadium. Will Berry looks to have fully recovered from his niggling knee injury from last season. Andy Wells has had not heard a crack yet. Dan Wells has fully recovered from his shin problem and Stuart Evans has put off a shoulder operation until next
summer.

Evans In Trouble Again

Troubled fringe player has yet again put his playing career in doubt. Stuart assaulted a young player after watching the Manchester United vs Newcastle in a bar. The player is thought to have been team mate Dan Humphrey.
Police came into the Phoenix training ground, early monday morning to take Stuart away.
Assistant manager Jack Kool released a statement saying
" Stuart is being questioned by the police for an alledged assault, but is adamant that he was at his home with his dog Woofey watching the game."
This is not the first time Stuart has commited a crime. He was brought up in the back streets of Sompting and already had a criminal record by the age of 14. Offences included Theft, GBH and carrying illegal weapons. He is also a distant relative of disgraced footballer Joey Barton
Stuart most recently was ordered to do 50 hours community service for attacking a Fresh FC fan.
If the new case has to go to court then Stuart would be looking at a minimum of 4 year in Lewes prison.
A source close to Dan Humphrey said
"Dan is in a lot of pain and was in Worthing hospital for 2 days. He has heavy bruising to his body and a fractured eye socket, his career is in jeopardy."
FIFA President Seb Blatter also released a statement saying:
"Stuart Evans is a disgrace to football, he is ruining the sport. He should be setting an example for the younger players. I feel the fans will turn against him unless he is punished."
Stuarts main sponsor Dorothy Perkins has recently sacked him and also described him as a Thug.
We will tell you more once police finish questioning him
